Mastering the combination of an intimate setting perfect for a date, a level of casual vibes ideal for catching up with your mom, and an upbeat atmosphere practically begging for you to invite your friends is no easy feat, yet ReSette has clearly pulled off the delicate balance between all three aspects. It also doesn’t hurt that customers are welcomed with a warm flatbread, whetting their appetites and affirming that ReSette aims to please. IMG_9561

Located on 45th St. between 5th and Avenue of the Americas, the Italian restaurant has a menu teeming with favorites, like caprese and caesar salads, margarita pizza, and chicken/eggplant parm. Other options include fettuccini carbonara, a grilled chicken sandwich, and rib eye, making ReSette’s menu appealing to eaters of all palates. Even the appetizers exemplify the fact that this midtown gem should not be missed, with small plates like truffle fries, meatballs and ricotta, broccolini, and the popular burrata and prosciutto sprinkled through the menu. IMG_9557

My personal favorite is the club sandwich, composed of turkey, bacon, melted cheddar, avocado, and a sun-dried tomato pesto, served with fries (referred to by their french name, “pommes frites,” of course, because it’s NYC). The bruschetta appetizer is also a delicious crowd pleaser, and if you’re having trouble choosing which toppings to get, I would definitely recommend either the tomato and basil or the warm ricotta and peaches.

Two main dining areas accommodate lunch and dinner crowds, and some individuals are seated in a community-style area, but no worries for food hoarders: while tables may be shared, your order is not. Lights hanging from the ceiling in front of the bar offer a unique view for those in the front area, and dimmer lights in the back room allow for an entirely different ambiance. IMG_9558

Whether it’s for a quick bite or a night out with your coworkers, ReSette is a safe and rewarding choice. The waitstaff is attentive and friendly, the food is guaranteed to satisfy your Italian cravings, and there’s a Frank Sinatra quote about drinking hanging on the wall; what more do you need?
